Connecting Hearing Aids to iPhone

If your hearing aids are not connecting to your iPhone, there are a few simple checks you can try before contacting the clinic. Many connection issues are caused by Bluetooth, pairing mode, software updates or app settings.

First checks

  1. Make sure your hearing aids are charged or have fresh batteries.
  2. Keep the hearing aids close to the iPhone.
  3. Check that Bluetooth is turned on.
  4. If your hearing aids use a manufacturer app, make sure the app is installed and up to date.

Step-by-step troubleshooting

  1. Open Settings on the iPhone.
  2. Go to Accessibility, then Hearing Devices. Your hearing aids should appear there when they are in pairing mode. Some devices may also use a manufacturer app.
  3. Restart the hearing aids or place them into pairing mode as advised for your device.
  4. Wait for the hearing aids to appear on the phone.
  5. Tap the hearing aid name and accept any pairing requests.
  6. Check that both left and right hearing aids are connected if you use two devices.
  7. Test sound, phone calls or the hearing aid app if applicable.

Helpful tips

  1. If the hearing aids do not appear, turn Bluetooth off and on, restart the hearing aids and try again.
  2. Only pair to one phone at a time unless your device supports more connections.
  3. If the issue started after an iPhone update, try reconnecting your hearing aids.
  4. Your screen may look slightly different depending on your iPhone model and software version.
